AP Calculus AB and BC

An AP Calculus tutor, beside them all year.

Sophie is a live tutor for AP Calculus. She supports your child all year long, so they reach their full potential. Sophie helps with homework and test prep throughout the year, so your child builds a strong foundation for the end of year exam.

Sophie circles the step, gives a hint, and lets your child fix it.

A little help, right when it matters

The first tutor, always present.

Sophie is always available right when your child needs her, not three days later. She builds on the class material, patiently.

She does not give the answer. She helps your child get to it on their own, so they learn as much as they can.

Built for AP Calculus

Real AP material, unit by unit.

Sophie follows the AP Calculus AB and BC units. She teaches with lessons made for each topic and practices with problems like the ones on the exam.

A plan for the year

From the first limit to the exam in May.

A little practice, a few times a week. Each session is a chance to understand more and build on what came before.

  1. Fall

    Build understanding, week by week.

Work through this week's homework, talk through a new idea, and practice for the next unit test.

  2. Winter

    Make each idea clearer.

Return to the ideas that need another look, and connect them to what your child is learning next.

  3. Spring

    Bring it all together.

Practice free response and exam style problems, drawing on the understanding your child has built through the year.

Learning with Sophie

Their pencil. Their thinking.
Sophie beside them.

She helps them find the next step.

Sophie asks the next question and gives a small hint. Your child does the math and finds the answer.

She reads the work on paper.

A phone on a stand shows Sophie the page. She follows each step as your child works.

She talks, like a real tutor.

Your child explains their thinking out loud, and Sophie answers by voice. There is room to ask questions and try again.

The moment it clicks.

I used to freeze on which integration method to use. With Sophie I spotted it myself and worked the hardest one out.

The problem looked impossibly long. Sophie showed me one thing to check first, and suddenly it was short.

Theta finally made sense. By the end I could explain the whole formula in my own words.

For parents

Questions parents ask.

Is Sophie for AP Calculus AB or BC?

Both. Her lessons and exercises cover every unit of AB and BC, so she follows your child's class wherever it is in the year.

Will Sophie do the homework for my child?

No. Sophie guides with questions and hints, and never hands over a finished answer. Your child does the work, so the understanding is theirs on test day.

How often should my child use Sophie?

Short, regular sessions work best: a few times a week, around this week's homework or next week's test. Sophie is there every night, not only once a week.

How much does it cost?

From $8 an hour. You buy a pack of hours once, with no subscription, and you get a refund if you're not happy, as long as no more than half the hours are used.

Is it safe for my child?

Yes. The phone only looks down at the paper, never at your child. Our safety page explains how Sophie works with students.
